Histoire
The Memrik Colony was a Russian Mennonite daughter settlement of the Molotschna colony, founded in 1885 in the Bakhmut district of Yekaterinoslav Governorate in the Russian Empire, in what is now Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine. It lay on the Volchya River, a tributary of the Samara, about 20 miles (32 km) from Yuzovka. Before the First World War it had about 3,500 inhabitants. Its Mennonite population was largely destroyed by revolution, famine, collectivisation and deportation, and the last Mennonites were deported eastward in 1941.
